Comprehensive Exams

A comprehensive dental exam is the first line of defense in protecting your oral health. Spotting any potential problems while they are still small makes them easier and less costly to repair. Our dental team has the experience, training, and technology to ensure you a healthy smile that you can enjoy for a lifetime!

As a leading dentist in Shoreline, our comprehensive exams include the following:

  • Examination of diagnostic x-rays (radiographs)
  • Oral cancer screening
  • Gum disease evaluation
  • Examination of tooth decay
  • Examination of existing restorations

Professional Hygiene Cleanings

Good oral and dental hygiene is essential in preventing gum disease, tooth decay, and bad breath. A good routine of brushing and flossing at home is very important, but these are often not enough to keep your mouth free from disease-causing bacteria. A professional dental cleaning by Dr. Co is recommended every six months to keep your teeth healthy and plaque-free.

Your cleaning appointment will include a dental exam and the following:

  • Removal of calculus (tartar): Hardened plaque that has been left on the tooth for a period of time.
  • Removal of plaque: A sticky, almost invisible film that forms on the teeth.
  • Teeth polishing: Removal of stains and plaque not otherwise removed during tooth brushing and scaling.

Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy is needed when the nerve of a tooth is affected by decay or infection. You may feel pain in the affected area or the tooth may be sensitive to hot or cold. Even though the tooth has become severely damaged, it is still possible to save it.

Root canal therapy requires that the pulp (the living tissue inside the tooth), nerves, bacteria, and any decay be removed. The resulting space is filled with medicated dental materials, which restores the tooth. The pain will be gone and you will have a fully functioning tooth again!

Root canal treatment is highly successful, and the results usually last a lifetime.

Periodontal Care

Periodontal disease results when gum disease (gingivitis) has gone untreated. Some signs to look for are:

  • Red, swollen, or tender gums
  • Bleeding gums
  • Receding gums
  • Loose teeth

Periodontal disease is the leading cause of tooth loss among adults and should always be promptly treated. If you are experiencing any of the symptoms mentioned above, call our office and we will immediately set up a periodontal exam and outline any needed treatment to save your teeth.

Checkups

Regularly schedule dental visits are necessary to maintain healthy teeth and gums. Plaque and tartar can build up in a relatively short period of time, which can lead to gum disease.

The goal of our hygiene team is to keep your smile healthy and bright and head off any potential problems before they become more complicated and costly.

We will be happy to set up your appointments within your schedule and will send you friendly reminders by phone or text.

Children's Dentistry

Our goal is to help your children get started in a regular routine of good oral care - from brushing and flossing to hygiene visits. These habits will set them up for a lifetime of healthy and beautiful teeth.

We want your children's dental visits to be positive, educational, and fun! Our team will partner with you to make sure your child feels secure and comfortable during any treatment by taking the time to explain what's being done and to answer any questions.
